A. The Number of Tiles
A basic Mali Jong set consists of 136 tiles in five kinds and thirty-four types.
B. Kinds and Types of Tiles
The 136 tiles are grouped into five kinds and thirty-four types listed below. Each type has four tiles.

C. Extra Tiles
You may use extra tiles in the game. There are eight extra tiles usually included in the Mah Jong set. Four represent seasons and the other four represent plants. They are customarily called "flowers."

The eight extra tiles are shown as follows:


Accessories in a Mah Jong set usually include (1) a pair of dice, (2) a disc to hold the dice-shaped indicator of winds, (3) rulers, and (4) sticks or chips for scores.
