10 Taiwan students from Taiwan grabbed 7 Grand Awards in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) 2010, making the record in the history of the category, the Liberty Times reported Sunday May 16.
Two students Hung Yu and Lin Chi-chieh from Taipei First Girls High School won the first place of Grand Award in chemistry team project, the best performance for Taiwan teams this year, winning a US$3000 prize.
Taiwan has sent an overall of eight teams consisting of ten students to compete in the fair, achieving a record winning rate of 87.5%, surpassing average rate of 30%, with 90% of Taiwan students winning Grand Awards, the report said.
Hung and Lin will share the USD$3,000 prize and NT$200,000 from Taiwan government. Hung has been admitted to Massachusetts Institute of Technology after the upcoming summer vacation. Lin also considers the possibility of studying abroad after graduating from high school. (Source: Taiwan News, May 16, 2010).
